FUTURE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER’S PROFESSIONAL TRAINING: PECULIARITIES OF MEDIA USE AT FOREIGN LANGUAGE LESSONS

Abstract

The article updates the issue of the content of the future primary school teacher’s training to the media use at foreign language lessons that corresponds the requirements that are specified in the Professional Standard “Teacher of primary schools of general secondary education”. In particular, the attention is focused on the iden­tification of the peculiarities of the implementation of these tools by a future specialist. It is supposed that media tools effect the organization of the process of junior pupils’ foreign language competences formation greatly.

The identified peculiarities are joined into two groups. They are general-pedagogical and purely methodi­cal. General pedagogical peculiarities can be taken into account in teaching of subjects of various educational fields, which are defined in the basic curriculum of the State Standard of General Primary Education (2018). These peculiarities are of a cross-cutting nature. They affect and correlate purely methodical ones. The purely methodical peculiarities meet the requirements of compulsory results and the content of teaching foreign lan­guages at primary school, which are defined by the curriculum of foreign languages for general and specialized educational establishments (forms 1–4). Identified features are interdependent and complement one another, that affects the results and effectiveness of foreign languages learning at primary school.

The article also outlines the factors that led to the need to determine these peculiarities. These factors include: the role of the teacher in the educational process, the characteristics of the children of the present generation, the psychological features of the development of junior school age children, the specificity of the subject “Foreign language” and different approaches to the classification of media. The teacher’s readiness to take into account these peculiarities in future professional activities enables its productive organization with the media use at foreign languages lessons at primary school. It also optimizes the learning process in accor­dance with the tasks of the New Ukrainian School.
