THE RESULTS OF THE AVIATION STUDY OF THE FORMATION MATHEMATICAL COMPETENCE OF THE FUTURE OFFICER OF THE ARMED FORCES OF UKRAINE

Abstract

The question of the competence approach in the training of Ukrainian officers is an urgent issue, because today high-quality military professional training is the key to success in military operations and combat operations. The purpose of the article is to present and analyze the results of a pilot study of the formation of the mathematical competence of a future officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the context of the educational process of a modern higher military educational institution, which continues its work under martial law. Note that mathematical competence is considered not simply as a basis for fundamental sciences (informatics, physics, chemistry), but as an important component in decision-making for military service in peacetime and combat operations in wartime. Methods. According to the diagnostic tools developed by the authors, testing was carried out, according to the results of which, according to the formulas for the component indicators of the formation of mathematical competence, the number of respondents at three levels (neutral, receptive and creative) was calculated. Results. At the neutral level 84% of respondents were found, which indicates that most future officers have only separate components of mathematical competence, there are difficulties with the use of mathematical apparatus in the military field. The receptive level was shown by 15% of the respondents, who are characterized by such a level of mathematical competence that allows, at the level of understanding, to apply mathematical methods in a patterned manner for making decisions and solving specialized problems in the field of military management. The presence of all components of mathematical competence was demonstrated by only 1% of respondents – a creative level of the formation of mathematical competence. These are precisely those future officers who already have a high level of ability to creatively approach solving tasks, take initiative, find new ways to overcome difficulties, taking into account their own combat experience, the scientific achievements of modern science, capable of adapting and using modern technologies, that is, is the leader. Conclusions. As a result of the pilot study, it was confirmed the need to make changes to the existing educational system of training military universities in order to effectively form the mathematical competence of the future officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
