Abstract

The main characteristics of Ukrainian cultural and educative movement in the second half of the XIX century are defined in the article, the reasons of its origin are revealed, the famous pedagogue’s and prominent person’s contribution to the development of the education and schooling in Ukraine of the appointed historical period is discerned.
