The paper raises the problem of a new professional type of student’s personality formation whose qualification is considered as a synthesis of general and professional competencies, including the ability to communicate in foreign languages. The author has attempted to prove the value of interdisciplinary integration. The principles of integrative education have been determined and the ways of their implementation have been outlined as a mechanism for the students’ language proficiency quality assurance.
It has been emphasized that integrative education is capable to increase the efficiency of the professional and foreign language training by combining them into a single whole. The author pointed out that each academic discipline must act as both the means and the fragment of the learning environment for the professional competences formation. The integrative teaching has been defined as a student-centered educational process directed to the formation of the linguistic professional personality. The optimal structure of integrative education is the one that is similar to the structure of scientific research, combining both fundamental and applied aspects. Therefore foreign language training is considered as the interaction of major disciplines with foreign languages, directed to the formation of a linguistic professional personality possessing systemic scientific thinking and production culture. The criteria for choosing the optimal ratio of special and linguistic knowledge in the context of integration of the discipline “foreign language" and special disciplines have been outlined. The concept of teaching by the team that provides a high level of cooperation between teachers of special subjects and foreign language teachers in the development of integrated courses has been introduced. It has been emphasized that the interaction of teachers of foreign languages with specialists of a particular profession expands their professional competence.
