In the article features of diagnostics of formation of professional competence of the future officers-frontier guards a represented. As a result of the analytical work, it is established that it is expedient to select cognitive, activity, value-motivational and professional-personal criteria for diagnosing the formation of professional competence of future officers. Since the basis of the professional competence of the future border guard officer
is knowledge, skills, the four-point and four-level system for assessing the formation of professional competence is recommended in the study as optimal for use. At the same time, the levels of professional competence of future border officers are high, medium, low and unacceptable.
