Abstract

The article defines the peculiarities of organization of medical students’ independent work; the history of implementation of concepts of independent work and individualized learning programs in higher medical institutions of the USA is analyzed. It has been stressed that independent work is an important factor of the
development of American medical education and stimulus for lifelong learning.
