CRITERIA OF ASSESSMENT OF STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS OF IN THE COURSE “COUNTRY STUDYING. GREAT BRITAIN” AT THE ENGLISH CLASSES

Abstract

The article analyzes the questions of forming the criteria for assessing the achievements of students in the process of country studying at the English classes. The criteria are determined by the tasks of training and represent a list of various activities of the student, which he carries out in the course of work and which must be thoroughly mastered as a result of work. The levels of student achievement for each criterion consistently show all the steps to achieve the best result and are estimated by a certain number of points. The system of criterion evaluation includes two main components: a system of criteria for evaluating activities and criteria for valuation procedures. The distribution at the levels according to the level of achievements in the educational process is offered, for each level, the knowledge and skills that a student must have in reading, listening, oral
and written speech are described. The defined criteria allow assessing adequately the achievements and the acquired knowledge of the subject and draw the teacher’s attention to the strengths and weaknesses of each
student, which seems to be essential for the implementation of a personal approach in the learning process.
