HISTORIOGRAPHY OF THE PROBLEM OF MEDICAL EDUCATION IN THE USA IN THE WORKS OF AMERICAN SCIENTISTS

Abstract

The article analyzes the works of Ukrainian and foreign scientists at the end of the XX – beginning of the XXI century, dealing with the problems of the development of medical education in the United States. The necessity of systematization of pedagogical information with the aim of generalization of the existing theoretical experience in the context of medical education is proved. The source base is divided into two groups: 1) scientific research papers of Ukrainian scientists; 2) the works of foreign authors. The first group of scientific papers includes doctoral and candidate dissertations of Ukrainian researchers, monographs, scientific articles in periodicals, theses for the conferences, symposia, seminars. Particular attention is focused on the second group, in particular on American literary sources: books, monographs, articles, dissertations related to the American practice of organizing medical education.

The analysis of scientific research papers on the study of the medical education system in the USA showed that: much attention of Ukrainian and foreign scholars is paid to the general questions of the formation of the system of medical education: its formation, modernization and reforming at different stages of development; in many of the scientific studies, not only theoretical basis, but also practical experience (methods, techniques, technologies) in USA medical educational is highlighted; in the analyzed papers, various aspects of the outlined problem are presented, in particular: cultural, socio-political, pedagogical, economic, psychological, legal, historical, methodological and others.
