PEDAGOGICAL THEORY OF DEVELOPING COGNITIVE AUTONOMY IN YOUNG STUDENTS BY ACADEMICIAN OLEKSANDRA SAVCHENKO IN TODAY’S CONTEXT

Abstract

The aim of the article is to demonstrate that the pedagogical system for developing cognitive independence in younger students, developed by Academician Olexandra Yakivna Savchenko, serves as the foundation for modernizing contemporary methods of primary education. To achieve this goal, the following research methods were employed: analysis of academic works by Academician O. Savchenko, synthesis, systematization, comparison, and generalization of the presented material. Results. The article has revealed the pedagogical theory of developing cognitive independence in younger students, based on the research of the renowned Ukrainian scientist, Olexandra Savchenko. It emphasizes the significance and relevance of the academician’s main ideas and concepts to enhance the quality of education and foster cognitive independence among younger students in contemporary realities. Through an analysis of Academician O. Savchenko’s scientific works, the concept, purpose, and content of cognitive independence have been determined. The didactic conditions and methods for its development, actively employed in working with primary education learners in modern conditions, have been elucidated. The components (motivational, content-related, and organizational-procedural) that play a crucial role in fostering cognitive independence among primary school students have been outlined. The article examines the original pedagogical system for developing cognitive independence in younger students, proposed by O. Savchenko, which significantly influenced the improvement of content, forms, means, and teaching methods in contemporary primary education. This system represents one of the key directions for developing cognitive abilities and independence among learners in the current stage of education. The content of Academician Olexandra Savchenko’s system of cognitive tasks has been analyzed, which is built on substantive and procedural foundations, realizing cognitive, developmental, and educational functions of teaching. The system includes tasks for comparison, analogy, identifying the main points, generalization, and specification of knowledge, determining the figurative and meaningful role of words and word combinations, establishing cause-and-effect relationships, and forming evaluative judgments. These tasks contribute to the development of cognitive skills, critical thinking, and independence in students. The overall result of the research leads to the conclusion that the pedagogical theory of the renowned Ukrainian scientist, Olexandra Savchenko, holds great importance for fostering cognitive independence among primary education learners. The analysis of her ideas and system of views can be utilized by contemporary primary school teachers to improve the educational process and develop cognitive skills in younger students.
